I Didn't Miss
"I Didn't Miss" is a game made for the Brackey's Game Jam 2022.
You are a small spaceship, enjoying the views of space when a fleet of nitroglycerin filled attack ships charge at you. You have only a gun to protect yourself, but the bullets are not real. The enemies, however, do not know that.
This is my first game jam game, so don't judge it too harshly :)
Controls (also in game):
A and D to move
Space to 'shoot'
R to restart
M to go to menu

I like it! Takes me back to the days of Space Invaders! I died quite quickly the first couple of tries but then got to 12430 as my top score. I noticed when you shoot the enemies with the bullets they dodge to one side or the other which is nice, as it helps the ship have a fighting chance if there are too many enemies around it at once (as you say, they don't know the bullets aren't real). Nice job and creative interpretation of the theme! For development, you could try adding different types of enemies or add in 'waves', to vary the gameplay so it doesn't become too repetitive. Or some sort of power up ability.
Thanks for the feedback :)
I did plan on adding a wave system, but had to cut it because of the time, and other enemies would also under the "Doubt I have time but would be cool if I did" catagory. Also power ups sound cool. They did cross my mind but I didn't have many ideas for them that I could realistically make before the deadline. I will prob revisit this post-jam to add some of those things in.
No problem, and that's cool. It's tough to fit everything in to the week for sure. Look forward to seeing more of the game if you do decide to develop it further.
